About the program
Chapter 1: Nutrition in Plants In this chapter, students will explore the various modes of nutrition in plants, focusing on the different ways plants obtain and utilize nutrients. The process of photosynthesis will be examined in detail, highlighting its role in autotrophic nutrition, where plants produce their food. The chapter will also cover heterotrophic nutrition, where plants depend on other organisms for nutrients, including parasitic nutrition in plants that feed off hosts, and insectivorous plants that trap and digest insects. Additionally, saprotrophic nutrition, where plants feed on decaying organic matter, and symbiosis or mutualism, where plants engage in mutually beneficial relationships with other organisms, will be discussed. These diverse nutritional strategies demonstrate the adaptability and complexity of plant life.
